Laughter is the Best Medicine
So Friday was a really tough day for new non-smokers. It was unilatterally a truly difficult day! Cravings high, energy low, nerves on edge, heebeejeebees of the legs were experienced by the masses. But you know what saved the day? Yep, LAUGHTER. You see laughter is the best medicine. Yes, we may have laughed maniacally at times, but we weren't thinking about cigarettes.
Our first weekend as new non smokers is upon us... How will that affect us? Can we sleep the weekend away? No, really life is for living and living is better without cigarettes so let's see what unfolds.
If you are a new non smoker or an experienced non smoker and have techniques to help newbies through this process. I would love to hear from you. I read tonight that after 48 hours all of the nicotine is out of your system. Really???? Seems hard to believe that it would be gone that quickly. In the words of William Shakespeare: Out damn nicotine, out!!! (oh wait that might have been spot)

Day by day
Today is day 2 of another important part of my life and the lives of my family, it is day 2 of me being smokefree. Choices are sometimes made for us - however the important ones we make for ourselves. I have chosen to not use tobacco any longer and to breathe fresh air and enjoy sweet smells and be a better role model to my children, grandchildren and others who may be affected by my behavior.
I hope to use this blog as a sounding board to bounce ideas, share my thoughts and my creative endeavors. So today I am hoping that you can offer me the support I need, the encouragement to go forward and the praise for not succumbing to the mortal desire for the dreaded nicotine for the previous 2 days and for the coming days and weeks ahead.

Happy Halloween
Hi, I have been knitting and crocheting for years, but since I moved to the beach I have become fascinated with rocks and fibers. After seeing the work of Margaret Oomen, I was hooked. Literally. Crochet hook in hand I began with covers for rocks, fish and finally fish and beach glass necklaces. I am getting ready for my first craft sale for the holidays and thought that I would post some of my pictures for you. So without further ado.....

Welcome to my life!
My new title (Rock"n"Fibers) kind of tells it like it is. I am a newly retired fiber artist who lives at the beach now. I find inspiration in my surroundings and on my favorite blogs. I have begun experimenting with rocks and crochet, and have created some lovely little whatnots and thingamajigs. Actually, I crochet covers for rocks that resemble doilies and have a selection of fish necklaces made from rocks also. In the coming days, I will post pictures to show you what I have been up to.
There is a great beach not far from where I live where I can find nearly round smooth rocks that are uber cool when crocheted. Can't wait to show you. Be sure to come around and see what I have accomplished.

So a new Adventure Begins
As I sit here looking out the sliding glass windows of the surf kissing the beach and the sun glistening on the waves I almost have to pinch myself to believe it is real. You see, we have moved to the coast and are living in our Condo on the beach. Although it is small, 790 sq.ft., we have 2 full baths, 1 bedroom and an open concept living, dining and kitchen. We also have a gorgeous view of the ocean. We can hear the surf. We can feel the beachy mist. We are living "our" american dream. A dream of retiring at the coast. At this moment, I am the one who is retired while my partner works her dream job along the coastline. My hope is to chronologue our adventures and my quest to find fullfillment of living a simpler life, a richer life, a life full of crafty goodness. Join me and see how this story unfolds.
